Bruce Brammall is a financial adviser, author, columnist, journalist and successful investor.
Bruce grew up in Canberra, studied a BA Communications (Journalism) from the University of Canberra (where he was in the first year to be slugged HECS fees by Paul Keating), before starting a cadetship at Australia's biggest selling daily newspaper, the Herald Sun.
He spent 15 years with the paper, most of which was as a senior business and economics reporter. He was also the deputy business editor between 2003 and 2006, until he left to become a financial adviser. He now runs his own financial services company, Castellan Financial Consulting in Melbourne.
Bruce's time writing about the financial services industry and his time as an adviser means he has a perspective on investment markets matched by few in the world of financial planning.
He is still heavily involved with the media. He writes for the highly respected investor newsletter, Eureka Report and the Herald Sun. He also appears regularly on radio and television as a news and advice commentator.
'Debt Man Walking' is Bruce's third book, but is the one he is most passionate about. It's closest to his heart because it's such a personal book.
"I've wanted to write a personal finance book for Gen X for many years, because nobody has tackled it really, at all. Gen X's financial needs are different. They are in the 'wealth accumulation' phase of their lives, which is fundamentally a different place to where Baby Boomers and Gen Y are right now."
Bruce knows that financial advice starts with a relationship and trust. Both adviser and client need to be comfortable with each other and, from that point, it's about education and a mutual understanding of goals and timeframes.
His previous books were 'The Power of Property' and 'Investing in Real Estate For Dummies', released in 2006 and 2008 respectively.
